DLP Planning successfully secured planning permission for the erection of 60 leisure lodges for occupation on a non-continuous basis. The scheme also comprised:
- The renovation and conversion of existing barns to form a leisure site including gym, swimming pool and ancillary spaces including staff accommodation.
- The renovation and alteration of the existing Clubhouse.
- The erection of a new maintenance facility.
- Alterations to the grounds including changes to the golf course and construction of lakes for leisure and ecological purposes.
- Ancillary works including alterations to the access drive, provision o f a visitor check-in kiosk, alterations to car parking, creation of a circular walk, alteration and extension of the noise bund and consequential landscape works.
The site comprised an 18-hole golf course, within the countryside, however with the national decline in golf over the past decade it was important that the site was revitalised through the delivery of new leisure and tourism facilities in Rutland, which consequently would provide a significant boost to the rural economy through the provision of additional jobs and opportunities in a sustainable location for the activities.
DLP were able to demonstrate that through appropriate design and landscaping that the development would not have a negative impact on the character and appearance of the countryside and would be a logical place for the development in line with local and national policy.
DLP were responsible for the preparation, submission and monitoring of the application, as well as liaison with Council Officers, which enabled the development to be brought forward to a favourable outcome.
The proposed development has enabled a high-quality development in an appropriate location, which will provide a much-needed boost to the rural economy.
