About Us
Established in 1991 DLP Consulting Group is one of the UK’s leading independent planning-led consultancies, providing tailored multidisciplinary advice, focusing on resolving the many issues that arise from balancing development needs and impacts, optimising land use and delivering sustainable development.
Operating from seven office locations and working nationally across the private and public sectors, DLP has built a solid and reliable reputation whilst also maintaining an agile and individualised approach.
We provide strategic advice and support across a range of professional disciplines and related technical areas including Planning, Masterplanning, Architecture, Transport & Infrastructure, Research & Analysis, Sustainability Engineering and Environmental Services.
In 2022, DLP acquired Cass Design Consultants, which allowed us to expand our in-house offer in terms of architecture, masterplanning, landscape and ecology expertise.
Our People
DLP transitioned to an Employee-Owned business in March 2022. This recognises the importance that we place on our culture and our people. We care about our individuals and look to progress their professional development and careers. We promote from within wherever possible and include our young staff members in a variety of business areas to widen their skillsets. We aim to provide our young professionals with a variety of experience whilst also recognising their desires to specialise in specific sectors.
We apply the same professional and team orientated approach to all projects that we are instructed on, no matter their size or complexity and we enjoy problem solving our clients’ challenges. We are proud of the successes that we achieve for our clients, and have ‘polled’ consistently as one of the leading independent planning practices in the UK for a number of years.
Our Values
We pride ourselves in our streamlined approach and in building long term relationships with our clients. Client relationships are highly valued and our leadership team are driven to providing a high-quality service to our clients whilst also continuing to focus on growth.
We are constantly striving for improvement in everything that we do and welcome feedback from our clients.
DLP promotes a culture of inclusion, diversity and equality, and we foster an environment of support and positivity.
Environmental Responsibilities
With many Local Planning Authorities declaring a Climate Emergency, DLP’s well established ethos of delivering sustainable solutions in all we do, is no longer considered an added extra, it is imperative for all companies.
At DLP we strongly believe in ‘doing our bit’ to protect the planet that we all live on from irreversible climate breakdown and biodiversity loss, and as a result we have set ourselves a challenging target towards net zero carbon by 2040.
SME Climate Hub is a global initiative that empowers small and medium sized companies to take climate action and build more resilient businesses. By joining the SME Climate Hub, we have committed to lowering our impact on the environment through authentic action, halving our emissions by 2030 and have pledged to be truly carbon neutral by 2040. In making the SME Climate Commitment, we have joined the UN Climate Change High Level Champion’s Race to Zero campaign.
Details of DLP’s Carbon Reduction Plan and Commitments can be found on the SME Climate Hub or downloaded via the link below.
CASS Design Consultants is also a signatory to Architects Declare, which is a movement of architectural practices committed to addressing the climate and biodiversity emergencies. It was initiated in the UK in 2019 and has since expanded globally, with over 6,000 signatories in over 25 countries.
In addition to the various programmes we have initiated to reduce our own carbon footprint, DLP as a group is working on behalf of our clients to deliver planning permissions for a number of renewable and low carbon energy projects, including solar farms and offshore windfarms, which will when built will not only contribute towards reducing the UK’s carbon emissions but will also reduce our nation’s dependence on finite fossil fuels.
Our in-house Sustainability Team assists architects and designers to reduce the carbon emissions of their proposals whilst retaining the overarching vision of their designs.
